What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapy Aide position at PIONEERS MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE DISTRICT?
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general and direct supervision of the Rehabilitation Director and their corresponding Licensed Rehabilitation staff, the Aide prepares equipment for treatment, translates, performs the housekeeping duties of the department/facility. The aide assists the Licensed staff and performs other diverse duties as requested or required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Aides in the treatment, care and safety of patients.
2. Prepares equipment for patient treatments. Assists the therapists/assistants to perform other professional duties.
3. Assists therapists/assistants in selected procedures, according to their directions to aid in patient care.
4. Performs housekeeping duties of the department by routine and periodic cleaning. Maintains order and cleanliness throughout the department.
OTHER REPONSIBILITIES:
1. Registration and scheduling of patients
2. Assist Lead receptionist with office tasks, like document scanning and management, assists with eligibilities and reports, as well as ILP offices, clinics and other hospital departments for document and order request follow ups.
3. Performs Hand hygiene audit documentation.
4. Cleaning and maintenance of therapy equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school graduate or equivalent work experience.
2. Some knowledge of medical and exercise terminology is helpful but not required.
3. Prefer experience in a hospital physical therapy department, physical therapy facility, nursing home or rehab agency performing.
4. Must be familiar with cleaning agents and methods, physical layout of department, techniques of handling patients, department, department/hospital policies, procedures and regulations and the operation of the department equipment.
5. Bilingual in Spanish, preferred to assist with translation during patient care.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
1. AHA BLS certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must have good physical stamina; be fairly strong and energetic; able to tolerate walking, standing, stooping, carrying, talking, seeing, bending and handling; have good color vision, speed and a healthy back; able to be on feet most of the day. The degree to which any of these is done depends on the techniques being used. Able to lift 40 pounds floor to knuckle 4 repetitions.
2. Must have coordination of sight and body movements in various applications of procedures, handling and assisting patients, and ability to handle the tools and equipment of the profession.
