Senior Backend Developer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Pioneering Evolution is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to design and implement secure, high-performance backend services for a mission-critical federal software platform. This role plays a key part in shaping scalable and auditable backend systems that align with government compliance, security, and performance standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate with technical leads and cross-functional teams to deliver robust service architectures while mentoring junior developers in secure software engineering practices. Other key responsibilities include:

• Design and develop scalable and secure APIs and backend services using ASP.NET Core.

• Collaborate with frontend, data, and DevSecOps teams to support full-stack solutions and system integration.

• Lead code reviews and promote the adoption of secure coding standards and engineering best practices.

• Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and stability.

• Support CI/CD pipelines to streamline build, test, and deployment processes for backend components.

• Contribute to architectural and technical planning sessions to align system design with business and compliance goals.

• Ensure audit-readiness and data traceability across all backend implementations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 7 years of backend development experience with strong expertise in ASP.NET Core.

• Proven experience in developing scalable RESTful APIs and integrating secure backend services.

• Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset and experience mentoring junior developers.

• Must be available to work full-time and on-site in the Washington D.C. metro area.

• U.S. Citizenship and active Secret Clearance are required.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience building and maintaining secure, audit-ready systems for federal or financial domains.

• Familiarity with cloud-native development, containerized environments (e.g., Docker), and orchestration platforms.

• Understanding of DevSecOps principles, data governance, and industry compliance standards.
