Position Overview
OSA and SSS Academies are seeking a passionate and student-focused Assistant Principal to support the Principal / Head of School by leading all aspects of student success, culture, and engagement.
This role is responsible for ensuring students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally across onsite and online learning environments, including support for student-athletes and innovative STEAM/AI programs.
The Assistant Principal serves as the primary leader for student experience, helping build a strong school culture while ensuring systems are in place for student achievement, attendance, and behavior.
Key Responsibilities
Student Achievement & Support
- Monitor student academic progress, grades, and performance
- Implement and oversee intervention systems (RTI/MTSS)
- Support students in staying on track for promotion and graduation
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure effective student support strategies
Student Culture & Behavior
- Lead school-wide culture aligned to high expectations and school values
- Oversee discipline systems with a focus on consistency and restorative practices
- Support teachers with classroom management and student engagement strategies
- Promote student leadership, accountability, and ownership
Attendance & Engagement
- Track and improve student attendance across in-person and online programs
- Develop strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism
- Partner with families to support student engagement and retention
Student-Athlete Support
- Monitor academic eligibility for student-athletes
- Collaborate with athletic leadership to support student success
- Promote balance between academics, athletics, and leadership development
Online & Blended Learning Support
- Ensure student engagement in virtual and hybrid learning environments
- Support systems for accountability in online coursework
- Address barriers to student success in digital learning
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as a key point of contact for student and family concerns
- Support parent communication, conferences, and outreach
- Promote the mission and vision of OSA, SSS Academies, and PTAA
Staff Collaboration
- Support teachers with student-related challenges and interventions
- Provide coaching on behavior, engagement, and student support practices
- Collaborate with school leadership to improve student outcomes
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Administrator certification (or ability to obtain)
- 3–5 years of experience in education
- Experience working directly with student support, discipline, or school culture
Preferred:
- Experience in online or blended learning environments
- Experience in charter or innovative school models
- Experience supporting student-athletes
- Knowledge of behavior systems and intervention frameworks
Technology Skills
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Classroom)
- Student Information Systems (SIS)
- Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Educational technology platforms
