Overview
The Set-Up Operator is responsible for preparing and configuring machinery and equipment for production processes, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency. The operator will work closely with production teams to meet production schedules and maintain quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Review production schedules and work orders to determine the necessary set-up and machine adjustments.
- Set up, and operate machinery and equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Conduct pre-production checks, including inspection of tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Adjust and troubleshoot machinery as needed during operation to maintain optimal production levels.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of set-ups, machine adjustments, and production metrics.
- Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Train and assist junior operators and production staff as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimization efforts.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and conduct quality inspections of products during the set-up phase.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Create, edit and/or retrieve CNC programs from system files or machine controller & execute.
- Perform non-CNC equipment operation, deburring, inspections, saw-cut operations etc. as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training is a plus.
- Must be a level 3 CNC operator.
- Strong understanding of machinery, tools, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting purposes.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
In this position the employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts & vibration. The noise level in the environment can be loud, hearing protection is provided and mandatory in certain areas. Physical requirements are as follows: the employee is required to talk and hear, is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel tools & controls and reach with hands & arms. Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The position requires occasional lifting, pushing & pulling of objects that are up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
