Summary
The role of the Retail Associate is to provide customers with an exceptional and educational experience in line with LOVA culture and customer service expectations. This is an hourly, non-exempt, tipped-eligible position. Retail Associates educate consumers on consumption methods, purchase limits, general regulations, and product information, while performing to individual and company-wide sales goals as set forth by management.
Job DutiesProduct Knowledge
- Maintains extensive product and industry knowledge on all current and upcoming products and categories
- Maintains extensive brand knowledge and selling points
- Understands and can explain all cannabis product categories, consumption methods, and infusion methods
- Understands and can explain dosing instructions and safe consumption per product
- Understands and can explain infusion, extraction, and other methods regarding product production
- Completes ancillary product training such as Learn Brands, vendor trainings, and other required education
Customer Service / Salesmanship / Compliance
- Provides exceptional customer service in line with LOVA expectations and objectives
- Provides product knowledge including general information, consumption instructions, dosing guidance, and onset information
- Provides regulatory education including, but not limited to: purchase limits, legal consumption spaces, proper cannabis transport, and storage requirements
- Completes required certified compliance courses
- Completes sales in compliance with all state and local regulations
- Verifies customer identification prior to sale
- Accurately weighs and dispenses weighable product
- Accurately scans product by barcode to maintain inventory accuracy
- Properly labels all products for compliant customer exit
- Performs to and meets individual and team sales goals as established by management
Cash Handling
- Practices safe cash handling in accordance with company policy (see Cash Handling SOP)
- Performs daily deposits and drawer counts
- Completes daily drawer opening and closing duties (see Drawer Open/Close SOP)
- Maintains accurate cash counts and immediately reports overages or shortages to management
- Performs cash drops as required to maintain appropriate drawer levels
- Is accountable for assigned cash drawer shortages or overages
Attitude / Conduct / Communication
- Responds to all company communications and inquiries in a timely manner
- Monitors and responds to Slack messages as required
- Maintains professionalism with customers and coworkers at all times
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and contributes to a positive work environment
- Ensures conduct aligns with LOVA mission and culture at all times
General Duties
- Completes daily opening and closing checklists (see Open/Close Checklist)
- Ensures POS stations are stocked with supplies and packaging and set up for the following shift
- Stocks sales floor inventory as needed
- Alerts management to low-stock or out-of-stock issues
- Ensures no required compliance information is covered or obstructed
- Maintains cleanliness of point-of-sale stations at all times
- Assists with daily cleaning and organization duties
- Assists with labeling drams and products
- Performs other duties as assigned
Compensation & Classification
- Hourly, non-exempt position
- Tipped-eligible in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local wage-and-hour laws
- Eligible to earn tips in addition to hourly wages; tips are distributed in accordance with Company policy and applicable law
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid MED Badge
- Must remain compliant with all legal and Company regulations related to working in the cannabis industry
- Reliable transportation required
- Complete discretion and confidentiality are essential
Working Conditions
- Extended periods of standing and/or walking may be required
- Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 25 pounds (up to 50 pounds with assistance)
