What are the responsibilities and job description for the Descriptive Linguist position at Pioneer Bible Translators?
A descriptive linguist works to document the specific linguistic features of a given language.

Clear written communication, especially regarding linguistic data
Attention to detail and an analytical mind
Descriptive linguists study the linguistic structures of a language. These findings may be documented in journal articles or the Ethnologue to contribute to ongoing work with the language group. Descriptive linguists may also partner with governmental groups or other organizations to document or help preserve a minority language. The research can also be used to aid ongoing translation efforts among a language group.
Most of our teammates raise support on behalf of Pioneer Bible Translators for their ministry roles. Support raising is not about money — it’s about prayerfully inviting people everywhere to participate in what God is doing to fulfill His mission.

We will work with you to develop a budget based on your ministry role, where you’re going, and your family’s personal needs. Our goal is for you to be adequately funded to maximize the fruitfulness of your ministry and your family.
