Description
Pinoleville Pomo Nation is hiring an on-site Family Liaison to support family engagement and early learning success for Native students in Head Start and grades Pre-K through 3rd. The Family Liaison will work closely with school staff and families to promote student participation, provide cultural enrichment activities, and help connect families with resources.
The ideal Family Liaison has strong communication skills, experience working with Native communities, and a commitment to building positive relationships between families and schools. The objective of the grant funding is to increase early learning outcomes for Native students by 10% in the areas of literacy and mathematics.
Pay: $25-27$/hr., DOE
Job Type F/T – 36hrs./week

Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a bridge between home and school—helping families navigate educational systems, policies, and resources.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to address student needs related to attendance, achievement, and well-being.
- Connect families to community and tribal resources that promote student success.
- Provide cultural insights and training to school staff to help create more inclusive, respectful learning environments.
- Responsible for Readathon, Family Reading Club and cultural lessons.
- Tutor students in academic subjects individually and in groups assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially across diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with students, families, and schools in a community engagement or support role.
- Organizational skills to plan events, track engagement, and manage resources effectively.
- Basic knowledge of educational systems, tribal programs, and student support services is preferred.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working with Native American families or communities required.
