Title: Forensic Scientist / Forensic Lab Supervisor (Clinical)
Duration: 04 Months Contract
Location: Lenexa, KS 66219
Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Responsible for providing technical oversight and supervision of non-exempt laboratory personnel across multiple shifts.
- Directs activities, workflow, and priorities within the designated laboratory area while coordinating effectively with other lab departments and interdepartmental teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must demonstrate proficiency in all principal duties of a Forensic Scientist I, II, and III as well as a group lead.
- Oversees staff and departmental activities; distributes and assigns work, determines priorities, and schedules non-routine procedures.
- Performs personnel-related functions including hiring, training, continuing education, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Resolves work-related issues with staff and conducts performance appraisals as required.
- Initiates quality-control measures and monitors work quality for adherence to laboratory standards.
- Performs duties of forensic scientists as needed due to absences or peak workload periods.
- Responsible for planning and implementing new instruments, methods, corrective actions, and SOP updates.
- Prepares staff for Federal, CAP, and State inspections.
- Responsible for the department’s annual competency testing process and documentation.
- Interacts professionally with interdepartmental teams and groups; participates in leadership meetings with laboratory management.
- Ensures frequent communication across all shifts with departmental staff.
- Performs other duties as directed by managers, directors, and/or RPs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in medical technology, biological science, or related field.
- BS/BA degrees in non-related fields must include a minimum of sixteen (16) semester hours in Chemistry, sixteen (16) semester hours in Biology, and three (3) semester hours of Mathematics; or as required by applicable regulations.
Work Experience:
- 6 years for a MT or 7 years for a BS/BA degree.
- One year of experience in a SAMHSA-certified laboratory.
