Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Specimen Processor to join our team in a clinical laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the accurate collection, processing, and management of biological specimens. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect and process various biological specimens, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Perform laboratory procedures including venipuncture, specimen labeling, and documentation.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain specimen integrity and prevent contamination.
- Assist in the preparation of specimens for testing, including centrifugation and aliquoting.
- Maintain accurate records of specimen processing and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate specimen collection from patients, including pediatrics and adults.
- Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean working environment in accordance with hospital standards.
- Stay updated on laboratory management practices, medical terminology, and relevant anatomy knowledge.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory management and clinical laboratory experience.
- Proficient in laboratory techniques including phlebotomy, cardiac catheterization, and spinal tap procedures.
- Familiarity with physiology knowledge and veterinary terminology is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic life support techniques when necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for managing multiple specimens simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals and patients alike.
