Traveling Road Manager

Pinnacle Production Group
Minneapolis, MN Full Time
POSTED ON 7/31/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/29/2026

ABOUT DINOSAUR ADVENTURE:

Dinosaur Adventure produces large-scale, family-friendly dinosaur events at fairgrounds, convention centers, expo centers, and event venues

across the country. Our shows bring prehistoric experiences to life for kids and families through walk-through attractions, interactive activities, rides, photo opportunities, and hands-on family entertainment.

We have been producing family events for over 20 years and continue to grow our touring event business across the United States. We are looking for an experienced Road Manager / Show Manager to help lead an additional touring show that is being launched.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in touring attractions, live events, family entertainment, fairgrounds, carnivals, festivals, convention centers, expo centers, or traveling show operations.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT:

This is more than just an operations job. Dinosaur Adventure is a fun, high-energy family entertainment experience where you help create memories for kids and families in every city we visit.

Each weekend, you will help bring a large-scale dinosaur event to life, watching families walk in excited and kids leave smiling. For the right person, this is a rewarding role where your leadership directly impacts the guest experience, the crew, and the success of the show.

This position also gives you the opportunity to travel, see different cities, work with new venues, and be part of a growing national touring company. While the job requires hard work, long days, and strong leadership, there may also be downtime between show schedules where team members have the opportunity to explore the cities and communities we visit.

THE ROLE:

The Road Manager / Show Manager is the on-site operational leader of the touring show. This person is responsible for keeping the show running smoothly from city to city, managing the traveling crew, coordinating temporary local labor, working with venue staff, overseeing setup and teardown, handling cash reconciliation, and communicating with the home office.

This is a hands-on leadership position, not a desk job. You will travel with the crew throughout the touring season and lead the team through long days, tight schedules, changing venues, customer-facing operations, and the day-to-day challenges that come with live event production.

The right person is organized, dependable, calm under pressure, strong with people, and comfortable making decisions in a fast-moving event environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Lead and manage the traveling road crew

• Coordinate, train, and supervise temporary local workers hired in each market

• Serve as the main on-site contact for venue staff, including fairgrounds, convention centers, arenas, expo centers, and event facilities

• Oversee load-in, setup, show operations, teardown, and load-out

• Help ensure a clean, safe, professional, and family-friendly guest experience

• Help create a fun and memorable event for kids and families

• Handle cash reconciliation, reporting, deposits, and daily operational paperwork with accuracy and accountability

• Manage road logistics, including travel schedules, lodging coordination, crew needs, and daily communication

• Keep the crew organized, motivated, and professional during extended travel

• Communicate regularly with home-office leadership regarding staffing, scheduling, venue needs, and operational issues

• Identify and solve problems quickly before they become larger issues

• Help maintain company standards across each city, venue, and event weekend

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL

• This is a full-time traveling position and requires being on the road during the touring season

• Weekend show days are typically the busiest days

• Setup, teardown, travel, and prep days vary by market and venue schedule

• Shared van travel with the crew is part of the position

• Hotel and Airbnb accommodations are provided while on tour

• Scheduled time off can be coordinated when needed

• This role is a fit for someone who enjoys travel, exploring different cities, working with a close-knit crew, and helping bring a fun family

event to new markets across the country

• Applicants must be comfortable with extended travel, long days, changing schedules, and working in a hands-on event environment

COMPENSATION:

  • Competitive base pay, paid biweekly and based on experience
  • Paid vacation time.
  • Paid training.
  • Housing provided while on tour.
  • Weekly food allowance
  • Annual Bonus.
  • Lunch covered on show days.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (REQUIRED)

• Proven experience managing teams of 10 people in a traveling, touring, event, attraction, fair, carnival, festival, or on-location environment

• Strong logistics, scheduling, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Experience handling cash, reporting, deposits, or basic financial reconciliation

• Strong communication skills with crew members, venue staff, vendors, temporary workers, and home-office leadership

• Ability to lead people through long days, extended travel, and close-quarters road life

• Calm, solutions-oriented mindset when things do not go according to plan

• Comfortable working long days, walking venues, and being physically active during event setup and operations

• Valid driver’s license

• Acceptable driving record

• Clean background check, required due to cash handling responsibilities and working around children

PREFERENCES:

• Experience with traveling family entertainment shows, touring attractions, dinosaur shows, carnivals, fairs, festivals, or similar operations

• Experience working with convention centers, fairgrounds, arenas, expo centers, or large event venues

• Experience onboarding, training, and managing temporary or local workers in different markets

• Experience with ticketed public events, guest-facing operations, and live event production

• Experience managing load-in, load-out, event setup, event operations, and road logistics

CULTURE AND FIT:

Road life is close quarters. Our crews travel together, stay together, and work together for extended periods of time. We hire for personality as much as skill. We are looking for someone who is dependable, easygoing, professional, collaborative, and able to bring positive energy to the team while still holding people accountable.

This role requires leadership, patience, flexibility, accountability, and the ability to keep the show moving even when plans change.

IDEAL BACKGROUND:

This position may be a strong fit for candidates with experience as a road manager, show manager, tour manager, event operations manager, traveling attraction manager, carnival manager, fair manager, festival operations manager, live event manager, family entertainment manager, venue operations manager, production manager, operations supervisor, or touring

operations supervisor.

HOW TO APPLY:

Send your resume, 2-3 references, and a brief note about your relevant road management, touring, event operations, or live entertainment experience to esha@ppgshows.com

Please include examples of shows, tours, events, venues, teams, or traveling operations you have managed.

We are looking to have the right person in place before the season begins.
