Position Summary – Quality Control Inspector
Pinnacle Precision Sheet Metal is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspector to join our AS9100-certified metal sheet and machine shop. The primary responsibility is to conduct visual inspections of fabricated parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, internal standards, and AS9100 requirements. The role involves basic dimensional inspection and focuses on detecting surface defects, weld integrity, form features, cosmetic finish, and general workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Perform visual inspection of sheet metal and machined components for defects such as:
- Cracks, dents, warping, burrs, corrosion, pitting
- Surface finish quality, discoloration, damage, or contamination
- Conformance to cosmetic and workmanship standards
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, quality plans, and customer specifications.
- Verify proper identification, traceability, and part marking per AS9100 and customer requirements.
- Identify and document non-conformances; generate NCRs and report issues to Quality or Production Supervisors.
- Perform in-process and final inspection on parts and assemblies before shipment.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action investigations.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, and logs as required by AS9100 and internal procedures.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve product quality and resolve issues.
- Ensure tools, gauges, and equipment used for visual inspections are properly maintained and calibrated when necessary.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge of visual inspection techniques for metal fabrication, machined parts and painted parts and assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (basic level), and manufacturing documentation.
- Working knowledge of aerospace industry standards is a plus.
- Basic understanding of dimensional inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Proficient in using Office and Windows based software.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a sheet metal or machine shop environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor environment, standing/walking for extended periods.
- Exposure to noise, dust, metal shavings, and occasional sharp objects.
- May require use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Physical Demands
- Stand continuously and lift objects up to 30lbs
- Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) for visual inspection tasks, including color differentiation.
ITAR
This position requires access to technology that is controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
