POSITION SUMMARY
As Maintenance Planner Pinnacle Oil Indianapolis, IN, you will work to improve work force productivity and work quality by eliminating potential delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, machine time and labor. The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work performed in the area to which he/she is assigned. He/she maintains liaison and coordination between the operations and maintenance team; maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or work done. This position is accountable for PM compliance, PM optimization, and Autonomous maintenance task effectiveness.
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for maintenance planning and scheduling services along with improving maintenance workforce effectiveness by eliminating potential equipment failures through proper planning and coordination of parts, equipment, files and personnel.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
This is a comprehensive list, but not limited to:
- Schedule weekly meetings with the operations supervisors and the maintenance supervisors to discuss schedule, negotiates for downtime "windows” during which maintenance can be performed and short-term projections on maintenance needs.
- Review the schedule and labor availability forecasts weekly in preparation for the scheduling meeting
- Ensure safety requirements are considered as top priority in work planning.
- Receive approved work requests from requesting departments, except emergency work orders
- Review and screen each work request for completion. Discuss the details with the requestor as appropriate.
- Assure the work requested is needed and resolved within appropriate time.
- Examine jobs to be done and determine best way to accomplish the work. Consults with requester, Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering or functional crews when necessary.
- Obtain blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
- Identify and obtain determinable materials and critical parts, entering them on the work order and ensure they are kitted/staged
- Estimate jobs with sequence of steps, the number of tradespersons and required labor hours for each step.
- Maintains backlog files of work orders waiting planning and/or scheduling in accordance with their priority limits with an estimated completion date.
- Verifies the availability of parts, materials and special tools required for job execution prior to scheduling.
- Identifies and generates each shift's PM workload.
- Finalize schedules, ensuring that the work schedule balances labor hours available so that a full day's work is provided for each person.
- Recommends equipment to be included in preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate purchase requisition of all predetermined parts, materials and special tools and ensure that equipment to be worked on will be available and ready.
- Arrange for any safety permits, hot work, confined space, etc.
- Review completed schedules and work orders submitted and monitor work order progress
- Develops a file of standard job plans for regularly recurring repair jobs.
- Reviews the actual labor expended versus estimated labor and material used for completed jobs with Maintenance Supervisors and reports same to stakeholders.
- Assists Maintenance and Operations management in periodically analyzing costs and recommends corrective action needed to reduce maintenance costs.
- Maintains necessary records and files for company auditing and prepares accurate control reports.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Process maintenance work requests, Prepare and define work orders, parts staging and labor for work orders.
- Coordinate equipment shutdowns.
- Compile requisitions and other parts acquisition documents
- Organize and maintain blueprints, equipment manuals and equipment history records and files essential to maintenance management.
- Collaborates with the engineering, project and the maintenance teams to identify, analyze, and resolve equipment issues.
- Work with equipment OEM, project and maintenance team to determine the PM tasks, frequencies, tools and manpower requirement.
- Coordinates with the stores to ensure parts are available before release of work order and advise on changes to inventory levels where needed.
- Perform routine audits to ensure the CMMS Asset data, BOM and PM tasks are up to date and accurate.
- Generate KPI reports, participate in continuous improvement projects, RCA activities and make recommendations for system improvements.
- Contact suppliers to place orders, audit equipment and schedule equipment support.
- Assists in any maintenance activity as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
