Housekeeper

Job Overview

• Position Title: Housekeeping Attendant / Environmental Services Worker
• Department: Environmental Services / Housekeeping
• Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor or Director of Environmental Services

Key Responsibilities

• Resident Room Cleaning: Dust furniture, wipe down windowsills, empty wastebaskets, dry/wet mop floors, and sanitize high-touch surfaces in resident rooms.
• Bathroom Sanitation: Clean and disinfect washbasins, toilets, showers, and polish chrome fixtures while removing watermarks.
• Infection Control & Safety: Adhere to universal precautions, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and set up or take down isolation rooms as directed by nursing staff.
• Waste & Linen Management: Dispose of refuse and biohazard waste daily in compliance with facility sanitation policies. Make beds or strip rooms when required.
• Common Area Maintenance: Clean and vacuum hallways, dining areas, lounges, and entryways to ensure a hazard-free environment.
• Equipment Care & Restocking: Clean housekeeping carts and tools after use; replenish paper towels, soap, and sanitizer supplies in rooms.
• Resident Interaction: Treat residents and their personal belongings with dignity, respect, and kindness.
• Maintenance Reporting: Report broken equipment, safety hazards, or facility damage to maintenance staff immediately.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred, but not strictly required.
• Experience: Prior cleaning experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or hospitality setting is a plus, but on-the-job training is provided.
• Communication: Ability to read, write, and follow basic safety instructions in English.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Personal Traits: Patience, compassion, emotional stability, and a strong commitment to health and safety standards
