What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician position at Pinnacle Manufacturing?
Pinnacle Manufacturing is looking for a detail-oriented Engineering Technician to help connect engineering, supply chain, and production. If you enjoy working with drawings, solving problems, and seeing your work put into production, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact.
You’ll help ensure our production teams have accurate bills of materials, drawings, and production travelers—the documents that guide each job through manufacturing. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Inventory Control, and Quality, you’ll keep information accurate in NetSuite and resolve discrepancies before they lead to scrap, rework, or delays.
What You’ll Do
- Create and maintain item records, bills of materials (BoMs), and routings in NetSuite.
- Review drawings and BoMs for accuracy and completeness before release to production.
- Prepare and maintain production travelers with the correct drawings, revisions, work instructions, and inspection requirements.
- Coordinate traveler releases with production schedules and work orders, and remove outdated documents when revisions change.
- Review completed travelers for required signoffs, inspection results, traceability information, and quantities.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical parts, engineering drawings, and system records.
- Coordinate engineering change orders, including approvals, document updates, and instructions for affected inventory and work in process.
- Support new product introductions and initial production runs.
- Measure parts and assemblies using calipers and tape measures to verify dimensions against drawings.
- Update drawings and redlines in AutoCAD under engineering direction.
- Develop clear work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Track production data, including cycle times, scrap, rework, and downtime, to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain organized production records and perform other related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
- An associate degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing, or equivalent work experience.
- At least two years of technician experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, including tolerances, revision history, and basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience using measuring tools such as calipers.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and basic charts.
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems; NetSuite experience is preferred.
- Understanding of document control, revision control, and engineering change processes.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work closely with both office and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- SolidWorks experience.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or a similar quality management system.
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, or root cause analysis.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position involves both computer-based office work and hands-on work on the production floor. Responsibilities require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, handling parts and measuring tools, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. Production areas may involve noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures. Required personal protective equipment must be worn.
