Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Allergy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support allergy testing and treatment procedures, assist with patient care, and collaborate with medical staff in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and patient service, with experience in hospital or outpatient settings preferred. The Allergy Technician will play a vital role in ensuring accurate testing, documentation, and patient safety within our allergy clinic.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for allergy testing procedures, including explaining processes and ensuring comfort
- Assist with skin prick, intradermal, and other allergy testing methods while adhering to safety protocols
- Collect and document patient information, including intake details, vital signs, and medical history
- Operate and maintain EHR systems for accurate record-keeping and documentation of test results
- Support medication administration as directed by healthcare providers during allergy treatments
- Monitor patients during procedures for adverse reactions or discomfort and respond promptly
- Assist with specimen collection, X-ray coordination, and other diagnostic procedures as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinical environment in compliance with infection control standards
- Support patient education regarding allergy management and follow-up care plans
Requirements
- Prior experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics highly preferred
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medical terminology relevant to allergy testing and treatment
- Certification or training in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately
- Experience working with EHR systems and familiarity with medical-surgical or internal medicine environments preferred
- Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and support medication administration
- Previous hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous
- Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols related to allergic reactions or adverse events during testing
- Ability to work efficiently in inpatient or outpatient settings including Geriatrics, PICU, OR experience is a plus
- Must demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.54 - $25.00 per hour
