Position Overview
Pinnacle Freight is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead our outbound dock operations and support local delivery coordination.
This role is responsible for overseeing the daily outbound shift, ensuring all trailers are loaded safely, efficiently, and accurately while maintaining high standards for freight handling, load quality, hazmat compliance, and on-time performance.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in dock supervision, refrigerated freight operations, transportation logistics, and local routing. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced environment requiring strong decision-making, team leadership, and operational execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesOutbound Dock Operations
- Supervise daily outbound dock activities to ensure accurate, safe, and timely trailer loading
- Manage dock staff, workflow, and priorities to maintain productivity and efficiency
- Ensure proper freight handling to prevent damage and service issues
- Ensure proper weight distribution, load securement, and trailer utilization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant dock environment
Routing & Transportation Support
- Assist with local delivery routing and daily truck utilization planning
- Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, drivers, and operations teams
- Support efficient trailer turns and fleet utilization
- Help resolve routing issues, delivery constraints, and service disruptions
Safety, Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and hazmat procedures
- Verify proper load securement and customer handling requirements
- Monitor outbound accuracy to reduce misloads and service failures
- Support continuous improvement of dock and transportation processes
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop dock employees through hands-on supervision
- Set daily expectations and hold team accountable for performance
- Train new hires and reinforce operational best practices
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in warehouse, dock operations, or transportation supervision
- Experience in refrigerated freight operations preferred
- Strong understanding of trailer loading, freight handling, and load securement
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and hazmat handling procedures
- Proven leadership experience in a high-volume operational environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours based on operational needs
Preferred Skills
- Transportation or logistics experience in LTL or regional freight
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or TMS platforms
- Experience coordinating local or regional deliveries
