About the Role

The HR Generalist supports the organization by administering employee leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, workers' compensation, and unemployment claims across a multi-state healthcare organization. This role partners closely with employees, people leaders, HR Business Partners, third-party administrators, state agencies, and other external partners to ensure cases are managed accurately, timely, consistently, and compassionately. The HR Generalist also provides day-to-day support to the HR Business Partner team with employee relations, documentation, compliance, reporting, and other HR initiatives as needed.

We are seeking a HR Generalist to join our dedicated team at Pinnacle Fertility - Arizona, located in Scottsdale, AZ. This is a full-time, on-site position working Mondays - Fridays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, medical, personal, and applicable state and local leave programs; interpret and apply relevant federal, state, and local requirements.
• Manage workplace accommodation requests and support the ADA interactive process, including obtaining documentation, identifying restrictions and functional limitations, and coordinating return-to-work.
• Coordinate leaves with disability benefits, workers' compensation, PTO, and other applicable programs; recognize and appropriately manage overlapping FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and state leave requirements.
• Assist in the administration of open enrollment and benefits onboarding, including carrier communication and life event processing; facilitate weekly new hire and benefits orientation.
• Manage the reporting, filing, tracking, and administration of workplace injuries, workers' compensation claims, and occupational exposure incidents, including OSHA recordkeeping and required reporting.
• Manage unemployment claims and state agency requests; coordinate hearings and documentation; maintain records related to claims, determinations, appeals, and agency correspondence.
• Serve as a primary liaison among employees, leaders, HR Business Partners, third-party administrators, and claims administrators throughout leave, accommodation, workers' compensation, and unemployment processes.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation and conduct periodic audits for compliance; monitor claims through resolution and identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
• Respond to routine employee and manager HR questions; escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately.
• Support HR reporting, audits, compliance activities, policy communication, employee lifecycle processes, and HR projects and initiatives as needed.
• Assist with manager and employee education related to leaves, accommodations, workers' compensation, unemployment, and HR policies and practices.
• Support HR projects, process improvements, and organizational initiatives as needed.

Position Requirements

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 2-5 years of HR experience, including experience with leaves, accommodations, workers’ compensation, unemployment, or related HR programs.
  • Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and applicable employment laws.
  • Multi-state HR experience strongly preferred; healthcare or multi-site experience preferred.
  • Experience working with third-party administrators, claims carriers, and state agencies preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification preferred.
• Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations professionally and compassionately.
  • Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of leave, accommodation, workers’ compensation, and unemployment processes.
  • Strong critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while building effective partnerships with employees, leaders, HR Business Partners, vendors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, multi-state environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, case-management systems, and Microsoft Office.
