Position Overview
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and management of all field operations on construction sites to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This individual serves as the company’s on-site representative, maintaining direct communication between project management, subcontractors, field staff, and clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations
- Oversee all phases of construction from mobilization through final completion and punch list.
- Ensure all work is executed in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site labor to maintain workflow and efficiency.
- Conduct daily site walks, ensuring adherence to quality control and project schedules.
- Supervise the layout, sequencing, and phasing of work for maximum productivity.
- Verify installation methods, dimensions, and materials before approval of progress payments.
- Maintain an updated set of as-built drawings and field logs.
Safety Management
- Enforce strict compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Standards and company-specific safety policies.
- Conduct daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and ensure all personnel have appropriate PPE.
- Lead weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks, documenting attendance and topics covered.
- Report and investigate all incidents, near-misses, and property damage per company protocol.
- Maintain Site Safety Plan (SSP) and coordinate periodic inspections with Safety Officers.
Scheduling and Coordination
- Work with Project Managers to develop and maintain three-week look-ahead schedules.
- Track progress and identify schedule impacts early to prevent delays.
- Coordinate delivery of long-lead materials and equipment.
- Liaise with inspectors, engineers, and client representatives to ensure timely approvals.
Quality Assurance
- Enforce workmanship and material quality consistent with contract documents.
- Conduct inspections at critical stages and sign off on completed phases.
- Ensure all testing and commissioning activities are properly scheduled and documented.
Administrative and Reporting
- Maintain detailed daily field reports including manpower counts, work performed, deliveries, and weather.
- Approve and track subcontractor timesheets and change orders as directed by the Project Manager.
- Support monthly progress reporting, pay applications, and closeout documentation.
- Uphold company standards of professionalism and serve as the primary on-site point of contact for stakeholders.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in vertical construction (residential, commercial, or institutional).
- Proven ability to manage multi-trade crews and complex schedules.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and PlanGrid.
- Strong understanding of building codes, blueprints, and CSI specifications.
- Competence in reading and interpreting civil, structural, architectural, and MEP drawings.
Required Safety and Management Certifications Core Safety Certifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification (required).
- First Aid / CPR / AED Certification (required).
- Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) Training (required).
- Fall Protection Awareness and Competent Person Certification (preferred).
- Confined Space Entry Training (as applicable).
- Scaffold Competent Person / Aerial Lift Operator (as applicable).
Management & Professional Certifications
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) – Construction Management Association of America (preferred).
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) or LEED Green Associate – USGBC (preferred).
- NCCER Construction Superintendent Certification (preferred).
- CPR / AED / First Responder Training (required or within 30 days of hire).
- SWPPP and Stormwater Management Certification (preferred, for civil/land projects).
- EPA RRP (Renovation, Repair and Painting) (for applicable renovation work).

Pay: $52,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
