Position Summary
The Elementary Paraprofessional supports classroom teachers in providing a safe, engaging, and academically focused learning environment for students in grades K-5. The Elementary Paraprofessional supports classroom teachers in providing a safe, engaging, and academically focused learning environment for students in grades K-5. The paraprofessional assists with instructional activities, classroom management, student supervision, and individualized support to help students achieve academic and behavioral success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers with daily instructional activities and lesson implementation.
- Provide smallgroup and oneonone academic support to students.
- Support student learning in reading, mathematics, writing, science, and social studies.
- Reinforce lessons and instructional concepts introduced by the teacher.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and educational displays.
- Monitor student behavior and help maintain a positive classroom environment.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and other school activities.
- Support students with special needs in accordance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
- Assist with data collection and documentation related to student progress.
- Encourage positive social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or completion of at least 60 college credit hours preferred.
- Previous experience working with elementaryaged children preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Commitment to the mission and vision of the charter school.
- Understanding of child development and elementary education practices.
- Ability to support classroom instruction and behavior management.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Proficiency in basic technology and educational software.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor settings.
