GENERAL SUMMARY: In compliance with established policies and procedures, performs a broad variety of customer service and sales activities that promote long-term customer relationships. Assist customers with account problems and questions. Duties include initiating and servicing of deposit accounts and related services. Secure and strengthen customer relationships on an ongoing basis through follow-up calls, customer profiling activities, and review of customer needs. Responsible for closing deposit accounts as needed. Serve as a consumer lender trainee in processing loan requests per the bank’s policy and guidelines. Individual lending limitations and authority will be granted and updated over time based upon the incumbent’s demonstrated ability and level of lending experience.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Assists customers in making product and service choices that best meet the needs, and conducts subsequent required duties related to the proper account opening and closing for both individual and commercial account relationships.
  • Be proactive in exploring customer needs and making appropriate recommendations of available products and services in a professional manner.
  • Performs customer service duties as directed by incumbent’s supervisor, including but not limited to, answering phone and in-person customer inquiries, conducting customer research, processing approved refunds of service charges or fees as directed by supervisor, place check orders for customers as requested, assist in appropriate customer access to established safe deposit, and processing of deposit verifications for credit purposes.
  • Performs appropriate customer profiling at the time the relationship is first established to ensure that the immediate product and service suggestions are effective and that subsequent follow-up activities can be done with adequate information to ensure the bank’s goals of serving all of the customer needs are met.
  • Provides interest rate quotes to customers per the bank’s established rate sheet, obtaining individual rate quotes from appropriate bank personnel as needed for jumbo deposit relationships.
  • Accepts applications and conducts initial credit verifications and underwriting requirements as necessary for Demand Deposit and other Consumer Loans, including but not limited to ordering credit reports, and providing customers with loan payoff quotations.
  • Responsible for requesting and reviewing loan documentation related to the initiation and/or modification of DDL, Consumer and Fresh Start Loan accounts.
  • Initiates and processes incoming/outgoing wires, obtaining all necessary approvals.
  • Performs any other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends (if branch is open on weekends)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES:

  • Full knowledge of personal and business banking products offered, taking a personal initiative to stay updated on any changes. Basic knowledge of all banking regulations applicable to the job function and of all bank policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general banking principles and banking regulations and a willingness to participate in educational opportunities.
  • Skill in communicating with clients and co-workers in courteous and professional manner.
  • Skill in operating computer terminals and printers, back counter capture machine, coin machine and copier
  • Skills in effectively listening to customers and making appropriate referrals
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform customer service duties and provides leadership and guidance to subordinate members of the department in the areas of phone and in-person inquiries, conducting customer research, cash and check handling, and effectively making appropriate customer referrals to other bank staff.
  • Ability to ensure that appropriate efficiency, accuracy, and customer service is provided to customers to ensure that the bank’s goals of meeting the customers needs is being met.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to function as a team player.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 24 months of prior banking experience is generally expected.
