Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across various settings, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, and pediatrics. Duties

• Assess patients’ respiratory status by evaluating vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and pulmonary function tests to determine appropriate interventions.
• Operate and monitor ventilators and other respiratory devices, ensuring optimal functioning for diverse patient populations including neonates, pediatrics, and adults.
• Manage airway procedures such as intubations, extubations, and airway clearance techniques with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
• Administer medications related to respiratory therapy, including bronchodilators and aerosolized treatments, following physician orders.
• Respond swiftly to cardiac arrest emergencies by providing advanced airway management and participating in resuscitation efforts.
• Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining confidentiality.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, ICU, trauma centers, outpatient clinics, and specialty units such as pulmonology or geriatrics.
• Support ventilator weaning processes and optimize respiratory therapy plans based on patient physiology and progress.
• Conduct patient education on respiratory device use, medication administration, and breathing exercises to promote self-care post-discharge.
• Maintain technical proficiency with medical equipment operation and stay updated on the latest respiratory therapy practices.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from an accredited program is required.
• Demonstrated experience in hospital settings with exposure to ICU, emergency medicine, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and Level I/II trauma centers preferred.
• Proficiency in airway management techniques including intubation and ventilator management.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology principles, and medical terminology related to respiratory care.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR platforms for documentation.
• Ability to perform patient assessments accurately across diverse populations including neonates, pediatrics, geriatrics, and critically ill adults.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient education.
• Critical care experience in acute environments such as ICU or emergency departments is highly desirable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at minimum; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Familiarity with medical equipment operation including ventilators and respiratory devices used in hospital medicine.
