Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in various clinical settings, including acute care, critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and specialized areas such as ophthalmology, cardiology, and behavioral health. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care, performing medical procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Candidates with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks are preferred. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering high-quality healthcare services across inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, and community settings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques.
- Perform advanced procedures such as IV infusion, catheterization (including Foley and cardiac), suturing, phlebotomy, and ostomy care.
- Manage airway support using ventilators and perform emergency interventions including airway management and acute pain management.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory testing, sonography, mammography, and medical imaging procedures.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, dementia & Alzheimer's care, trauma medicine (Level I & II trauma centers), neonatal intensive care (NICU), PICU, and post-acute care settings.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, health coaching, and patient education tailored to individual needs.
- Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to prevent cross-contamination.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans across specialties including internal medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, occupational health, and family planning.
- Maintain compliance with all healthcare regulations including HIPAA standards and NCQA requirements.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Extensive clinical experience in diverse settings: ICU/critical care transport; emergency room; urgent care; outpatient clinics; hospital medicine; medical-surgical units; home & community care; assisted living; nursing homes; dialysis centers; pediatric & neonatal units; hospice & palliative medicine.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, CPT/ICD coding (ICD-9/10), laboratory procedures including specimen collection/processing and phlebotomy.
- Skilled in advanced nursing procedures: IV insertion/infusion; tube feeding; ventilator management; sterile processing; ostomy & wound care; gastric lavage; spinal tap.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations including children with developmental disabilities or special needs such as dementia or memory care patients.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and working with multidisciplinary teams in teaching hospital environments or outpatient clinics.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable for seamless documentation and patient record management.
