JOB SUMMARY: Pingree Eye Center is looking for a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant / Technician. We are searching for a happy, energetic, and hard working person who has a great attitude and is a team player. Experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant / Technician is preferred. The hourly wage for this position will be determined by the applicant's experience and certification, among other essential skills and abilities.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to show up to work at the clinic. This is not a remote position.
- Must be able to be to work on time and during the hours and days expected for this position, Monday-Friday.
- Must be able to perform all job responsibilities and meet expectations necessary for a high quality of patient care that we provide our patients.
- Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary to work with others and provide high quality patient care.
- Must have the ability to manage a full patient schedule on a daily basis.
- Must be able to keep organized and pay attention to detail.
- Enjoys working as a team member and is able to work with others, as well as individually.
- Understands and enjoys working in a medical practice setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patient care under the supervision of a physician
- Accurately perform technical work-ups, motility evaluation, visual acuity, pupillary function tests, applanation, refraction, visual field testing, corneal topography, optic nerve and retinal scanning, tonometry, pachymetry, and other ophthalmic testing as needed
- Communication with patients regarding testing, follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, symptoms, and directing prescriptions with pharmacies
- Scribing and other duties assigned by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a medical practice setting
- Must be able to communicate with patients, co-workers, supervisors, physicians, and have a good understanding of ophthalmology and patient care
- Experience with data entry and working with an EMR
- Punctual and reliable
- Great attitude and happy at work
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to work well individually, and as a team member
