Now, we're scaling and looking for a seasoned IT Engineer to be based in our NYC Office.
WHAT’S THE CHALLENGE?
You will focus on database administration (DBA), site reliability engineering (SRE), and provide limited IT helpdesk support. This role is crucial in maintaining the performance, reliability, and scalability of our IT systems.
WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH
This position will report directly to the IT Director.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Data Management
- Manage, monitor, and optimise database systems to ensure high availability and performance
- Monitor database operation status, including performance metrics, storage space, connection counts, etc., and promptly identify and resolve issues such as database performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and slow queries.
- Handle business data extraction requests via standardised processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage user permissions and implement security measures to prevent data leakage or tampering.
IT Operation
- Manage deployment, configuration, monitoring and maintenance of local cloud-based IT infrastructure, ensuring the stable operation
- IT technical support and troubleshooting to protect the integrity and availability of the infrastructure
- Execute disaster recovery plans and participate in emergency drills (e.g., system switchover) to ensure rapid recovery
- Participate in capacity planning and performance optimisation to align resources with business needs
- Help implement security measures such as patch installation, intrusion detection, baseline review.
Others
- Provide basic IT helpdesk support to internal users for hardware and software issues
- Administer equipment, hardware, and software upgrades
- Manage relationships with US-based IT vendors
- Support compliance with IT and security regulations applicable to regulated Payment Institutions
- Serve as a liaison for internal and external internal stakeholders (R&D team in Hangzhou, US local business teams), external stakeholders like auditors.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5 years of progressive experience in information technology, ideally in a start-up/fintech/Payment Service environment.
- Proven experience in database administration and site reliability engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of cloud computing, Linux and Python.
- Strong knowledge of network devices such as Firewall, Switch and Router.

- Educated with a relevant degree in a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

- Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
- Ability to drill down, persistence and never-give-up spirit.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills – able to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel from time to time to the PingPong headquarters in China.

Salary : $150,000 - $160,000
