We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Wound Care Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our skilled nursing team. As a Wound Care Nurse, you will play a vital role in assessing, treating, and managing wounds, supporting our residents' health and well-being, and guiding our nursing teams to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Wound Care Nurse Duties, Responsibilities, & Qualifications:
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments to evaluate size, depth, condition, and infection risk.
- Monitor wound progress, document changes, and update care plans accordingly.
- Identify and manage complications such as infection, hemorrhage, or dehiscence.
- Select and apply appropriate wound dressings and therapies, including wound debridement, cleansing, irrigation, and packing.
- Manage patient pain and discomfort related to wounds.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound care techniques and preventive measures.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure optimal outcomes.
- Identify factors contributing to wound formation, such as pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and burns, and implement preventive strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and stay current on wound care advancements and research.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to enhance nursing skills.
Wound Care Nurse Qualifications:
- Active, unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Previous experience as a nurse in wound care, long-term care, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and professional collaboration skills.
