What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Pineville Pet Hospital?
Pineville Pet Hospital is looking for an experienced, hardworking Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced, team-oriented practice. We are a busy walk-in clinic that provides compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. Experience is required. Veterinary Technician certification/licensure is not required, but applicants must have prior hands-on experience working in a veterinary clinic.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
- Safely restrain dogs and cats during examinations and treatments
- Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other laboratory samples
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratories
- Place IV catheters and administer medications as directed
- Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery
- Induce and monitor anesthesia (experience preferred)
- Take digital radiographs
- Fill prescriptions and provide client education regarding medications and home care
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Assist with patient admissions and discharges
- Work closely with the veterinary team to ensure efficient patient care
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients while advocating for their pets
Additional Requirements
- Previous veterinary clinic experience is required
- Veterinary Technician license/certification is not required
- Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of all sizes and temperaments
- Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and procedures
- Experience with blood draws, catheter placement, and laboratory procedures
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a busy walk-in practice
