Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and laboratory sample collection.
- Perform animal husbandry duties such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and maintaining clean and safe kennel areas.
- Handle animals of various sizes using proper restraint techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Prepare animals for diagnostic imaging procedures like X-ray, ensuring proper positioning and aseptic technique.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with cleaning, polishing, and instrument sterilization.
- Maintain accurate medical records, including documenting treatments, medications, and laboratory results.
- Manage laboratory tasks such as running tests, preparing samples, and understanding animal physiology relevant to diagnostics.
Requirements
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and animal physiology is essential.
- Experience with pet care activities including grooming, dog training, and pet grooming is a plus.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory techniques enhances your suitability for this role.
- Ability to perform animal catheterization, restraint, and aseptic techniques confidently.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients about pet care needs and treatment plans.
- Certification or experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is desirable; however, motivated entry-level candidates with relevant skills are encouraged to apply.
