SUMMARY
Provides dependable support in maintaining and enhancing the buildings and grounds of Pines Village Retirement Communities. Assists with upkeep, organization, and basic maintenance to ensure all areas remain clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and staff. Demonstrates a positive, helpful attitude while working collaboratively with the team. Maintains professionalism and respects the confidentiality of resident and organizational information at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Support the mission, vision, purpose and philosophy of Pines Village Retirement Communities, Inc.
- Adheres to all agency policies and procedures and philosophy.
- Assist with groundskeeping tasks such as weeding, watering, and general landscaping
- Support basic maintenance projects, including painting, cleaning, and minor repairs under supervision
- Help maintain outdoor common areas, walkways, and resident spaces to ensure they are clean, safe, and inviting
- Perform seasonal outdoor work, including power washing, trash removal, organizing storage areas, and light hauling
- Follow all safety guidelines and instructions when using tools and equipment
- Work alongside maintenance staff and supervisors to complete assigned projects efficiently
- Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Director and/or CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Positive attitude and respect for residents, staff, and team members
- Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in the English language.
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction; perform math computations.
- Ability to communicate with the elderly and other team members in a polite, respectful and courteous
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to think quickly and rationally to respond to emergency situations.
- Must be able to decide when assistance is needed in tasks to prevent injury and/or damage to items.
- Must be able to understand residents’ frame of mind and communicate appropriately.
- Must be able to establish priorities and complete assignments thoroughly while being flexible enough to accommodate unexpected change.
- Ability to function independently, yet seek assistance when needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Work inside the building is normally temperature controlled, although employee may be exposed to extreme temperatures in apartments, attics and kitchen areas. Work outside is variable and employee will be exposed to extreme heat and cold due to our climate conditions.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases that require following established protocols and precautionary measures.
- Noise level is usually quiet to moderate, although employee will, on occasion, be exposed to loud levels due to equipment.
- May occasionally be exposed to disoriented or agitated resident.
