What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cabinetmaking Instructor position at Pinellas Technical College - Clearwater Campus?
Knowledge of the fundamentals of cabinetmaking including: carpentry, cabinet finishing & assembling. Experience with standard cabinetmaking tools, equipment, and processes including but not limited to; paint booth, stains and finishes, CNC programming, as well as standard wood cutting tools. The instructor will also manage all aspects of the cabinet shop including but not limited to; materials procurement, inventory control, business partnerships. Pinellas Technical College is accredited by the Council of Occupational Education and the instructor is the primary entity for ensuring all accreditation requirements are met.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Teaches students knowledge, social skills, and concepts.
- Identifies long-range goals and specific objectives and plans a program for individualized and group instruction.
- Prepares, administers, and corrects tests, and records results; evaluates student achievements.
- Plans lessons so that students become involved in learning and decision-making related to curriculum choices.
- Maintains a classroom that recognizes respect for both teacher and student; motivates students in an atmosphere of respect and freedom.
- Holds conferences with pupils, parents, principal and/or supportive personnel regarding the pupils’ academic and social development.
- Keeps attendance, grade records, and book inventories, as required by School Board policy.
- Applies knowledge of student psychology to include growth, development, interrelationships, etc.
- Attends classes, seminars, etc. to provide for professional growth and keeps abreast of the latest instructional methods and techniques.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 yrs. related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Schedule
- August–May: Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM – 2:15 PM
- June–July: Monday–Thursday, 6:45 AM – 4:11 PM
