Position: Family Pastor, Full-time
Reports to: Senior Pastor

SUMMARY
The Family Pastor serves as the primary leader and equipper for all NextGen ministries from birth through 12th grade. This pastor will cast vision, develop leaders, shepherd volunteers, partner with parents, and align nursery, children, and student ministries to Pinecrest’s mission and the overall discipleship strategy of the church. The Family Pastor is a collaborative, people-first leader who builds healthy teams, maintains excellent safety standards, and cultivates an environment where kids and students hear the gospel, grow as disciples, and engage in mission.
Key Responsibilities
1) Vision, Alignment, and Leadership
- Establish and champion a unified discipleship pathway from nursery to graduation, aligned with the church’s mission and calendar.
- Lead strategic planning for NextGen ministries; develop annual goals, budgets, and key metrics.
- Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer teams for nursery, children, and students; build a strong leadership pipeline and culture of care.
2) Student Ministry (Grades 6–12)
- Design a balanced ministry that prioritizes gospel proclamation, small-group discipleship, leadership development, and mission.
- Teach regularly; equip adult and student leaders to facilitate Bible-centered small groups.
- Plan retreats, DNow/camps, local and global missions with the Missions Pastor, and evangelistic outreach in partnership with other ministries.
3) Children’s Ministry (K–5)
- Oversee Sunday and midweek environments that are biblical, safe, age-appropriate, and welcoming to guests.
- Evaluate and select curriculum; train teachers in lesson preparation, classroom management, and disciple-making practices.
- Lead family-facing events such as VBS and faith-milestone experiences.
4) Nursery & Preschool (Birth–Pre-K)
- Ensure excellent childcare standards, age-appropriate discipleship moments, and a joyful volunteer culture.
- Maintain robust check-in/out procedures, room ratios, sanitation standards, and incident-reporting systems.
5) Parent Partnership & Family Discipleship
- Equip parents as the primary disciple-makers in the home through classes, coaching, and resource pathways.
- Create milestone plans from baby dedication to graduation.
- Provide biblical counseling and pastoral care to kids, students, and families; refer to professional care as appropriate.
6) Safety, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Maintain a comprehensive child safety system, including abuse-prevention training, screening, and clear policies that reflect current best practices for churches.
- Coordinate background checks for all staff and volunteers serving minors; keep screenings current per policy.
- Enforce two-adult rule, visibility standards, room-to-room supervision, volunteer ratios, emergency procedures, and incident reporting.
7) Teaching, Preaching, and Pastoral Collaboration
- Teach in age-graded settings and, as requested, in corporate worship.
- Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and staff to integrate NextGen into the broader life of the church (worship, groups, outreach, missions).
- Support congregational shepherding, prayer, and member care.
8)Communication & Administration
- Communicate proactively with parents and volunteers; maintain ministry calendars, team rosters, and clear playbooks.
- Steward budgets, purchasing, and facilities usage with integrity; coordinate logistics with the church office.
- Track engagement and discipleship indicators; report progress to the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications:
Spiritual & Doctrinal
- A mature follower of Jesus with a clear call to pastoral ministry and a life that meets the biblical qualifications of character and leadership.
- Full agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000; willingness to become a member of Pinecrest upon call.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required. Seminary training preferred (MDiv, MA in Christian Education/Family Ministry or related).
- 3–5 years of effective leadership in student, children, or family ministry. Southern Baptist experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success in building volunteer teams, equipping parents, and implementing safe, scalable systems.

Compliance & Readiness
- Willingness to complete background screening and abuse-prevention training prior to start and at regular intervals thereafter.
- Able to work Sundays, some evenings, and special events; occasional travel for camps, retreats, and missions.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
The Family Pastor is a full-time position. The work schedule will consist of 40 hours per week.
Compensation commensurate with education and experience.
