Job Title: Middle Grades Science Teacher
Position Overview:
Pinecrest Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Middle Grades Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about science education and committed to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of discovery in students. This teacher will deliver standards-aligned, engaging instruction while creating a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver science instruction aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for middle grades (life, physical, and earth sciences)
- Develop lessons that promote inquiry, experimentation, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and differentiate learning for diverse student needs
- Create a structured and positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and accountability
- Integrate hands-on labs, technology, and project-based learning to enhance understanding
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress
- Collaborate with colleagues during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instruction
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all school, district, and state requirements
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and extracurricular activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field
- Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in Science (Grades 5–9 or 6–12)
- Knowledge of Florida standards and state assessment expectations
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching middle school science
- ESOL endorsement or Reading Endorsement
- Experience incorporating laboratory experiments, inquiry-based instruction, or STEM integration
