Project Accountant
Location: Alpharetta, GA (100% Onsite)
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join their growing accounting team in Alpharetta. This position will play a key role in supporting project financials, job costing, budgeting, and overall accounting operations.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in project accounting, construction accounting, job costing, or contract-based environments and is looking for a long-term opportunity with a stable organization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage project accounting activities from project setup through completion
- Monitor project budgets, costs, billings, and profitability
- Perform job cost analysis and investigate cost variances
- Prepare customer billings and assist with revenue recognition processes
- Reconcile project-related accounts and support month-end close
- Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Track contract values, change orders, and project forecasts
- Assist with journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Support internal and external audit requests
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 3 years of accounting experience
- Experience in project accounting, construction accounting, job costing, or a project-based business environment strongly preferred
- Understanding of contract billing and project financial reporting
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
