High School Dual Credit Teacher - Culinary Arts

Location: Pine Tree Independent School District, Longview, TX

Position Overview:

Pine Tree High School is searching for a Culinary Arts Teacher (Dual Credit) for the 2026-2027 school year. The Culinary Arts teacher will join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team to deliver a dynamic, hands-on culinary program that prepares students for careers in the food service, hospitality, and restaurant industries. This position will include teaching dual credit courses through a partnership with Kilgore College.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of industry experience and instructional passion, helping students develop technical culinary skills, professionalism, and real-world workplace habits through authentic learning experiences - including operating a student-run, public-facing bistro a minimum of six times per year.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Teach high school culinary arts courses aligned with the Texas Education Agency’s Culinary Arts Program of Study, incorporating food preparation, safety, sanitation, and hospitality principles. Potential courses: Introduction to Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts I, and/or Practicum in Culinary Arts.
• Design and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction that reflects real-world culinary and restaurant operations.
• Co-manage the culinary arts facilities, including a fully operational student bistro, in partnership with the co-culinary arts teacher.
• Embed industry-standard procedures, expectations, and kitchen management practices into daily instruction to ensure the lab environment models a professional culinary setting.
• Maintain high standards for kitchen safety, sanitation, organization, and equipment care in accordance with industry and health regulations.
• Collaborate with the co-culinary arts teacher to plan instruction, manage facilities, and support program growth.
• Teach Dual Credit Culinary Arts courses in partnership with Kilgore College, ensuring alignment with college-level expectations and outcomes.
• Co-sponsor Pine Tree High School’s National Restaurant Association ProStart team, supporting student participation in competitions and leadership development opportunities.
• Foster student growth in employability skills, including teamwork, communication, time management, and professionalism.
• Build relationships with local restaurants, hospitality businesses, and post-secondary partners to expand student opportunities.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to students pursuing careers in culinary arts, hospitality, and related industries.
• Maintain and manage inventory, supplies, and ordering processes for the culinary program.
• Maintain an “all in” attitude—when everyone helps a little, the biggest challenges can be overcome!
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:Professional certification, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management, Hospitality, or a related field (preferred)
• Industry experience in culinary arts, food service, or hospitality (preferred).Experience working in a school or training environment (preferred).
• ServSafe Manager Certification or willingness to obtain (required)
• Texas Educator Certification in Family & Consumer Sciences or a related content area (preferred)

• Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety/sanitation standards.
• Ability to create an engaging, structured, and industry-aligned learning environment.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills within a lab-based setting.
• Ability to collaborate with CTE staff, post-secondary partners, and local industry professionals.
• Passion for mentoring students and preparing them for real-world success.
