Delivery Driver

The Pharmacy Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, timely, and professional delivery of prescription medications and pharmacy-related items to patients and designated facilities. The driver is an important part of the pharmacy team and is expected to provide dependable, courteous service while protecting patient privacy and maintaining the security of medications.

The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, comfortable using technology, and able to work independently while maintaining an efficient delivery schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Pick up and prepare prescription deliveries according to pharmacy procedures.
• Verify patient names, addresses, delivery information, and required documentation before leaving the pharmacy.
• Deliver prescriptions safely and efficiently to patients, caregivers, facilities, and other designated locations.
• Use an iPad and the pharmacy's delivery application to manage assigned deliveries, navigate routes, update delivery status, and document completed or unsuccessful deliveries.
• Be comfortable learning and consistently using the pharmacy's technology and delivery software.
• Follow assigned delivery routes and adjust appropriately when delivery issues arise.
• Obtain required signatures, confirmations, or other delivery documentation.
• Maintain accurate delivery records through the iPad and delivery application.
• Immediately notify the pharmacy of incorrect addresses, patient issues, delivery delays, unsuccessful deliveries, or other problems.
• Return undelivered medications and required paperwork to the pharmacy promptly.
• Handle all medications carefully and maintain the security of prescriptions while in possession of them.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and pharmacy privacy requirements.
• Provide friendly, respectful, and professional customer service to patients and caregivers.
• Follow all traffic laws and safe-driving practices.
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and ensure medications are transported appropriately.
• Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.

Technology Requirements

The employee must be comfortable using an iPad and smartphone-based technology and must be able to:

• Use the pharmacy's delivery application independently.
• Accept and manage assigned deliveries.
• Use GPS/navigation applications to locate delivery addresses.
• Update delivery status accurately and in a timely manner.
• Document completed, attempted, or unsuccessful deliveries.
• Communicate with the pharmacy through the appropriate technology.
• Troubleshoot basic technology issues and request assistance when necessary.
• Learn and follow changes to the pharmacy's delivery software or procedures.

Comfort with technology and the ability to learn the pharmacy's delivery system are essential requirements of this position.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to carry prescription bags and packages.
• Ability to bend, reach, and climb stairs as necessary to complete deliveries.

Performance Expectations

The Pharmacy Delivery Driver is expected to:

• Report to work on time and be ready to begin deliveries at the scheduled start time.
• Complete assigned deliveries efficiently and within expected timeframes.
• Use the iPad and delivery application accurately throughout the delivery process.
• Maintain accurate and timely delivery documentation.
• Communicate delivery problems to the pharmacy immediately.
• Follow all pharmacy delivery procedures and instructions.
• Protect patient confidentiality and prescription security at all times.
• Provide professional and courteous service to every patient.
• Maintain a safe and efficient driving record.
• Work cooperatively with the pharmacy team.

Important Job Requirement

This position requires the ability to independently use an iPad and the pharmacy's delivery application to manage deliveries and document delivery activity. Employees must be willing and able to learn the pharmacy's specific technology and consistently follow the required electronic workflow.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 20.0 per week
