This key leadership role is responsible for developing and executing the company's purchasing strategy while overseeing daily receiving and shipping operations. The Purchasing Manager ensures the timely, accurate, and cost-effective flow of materials into the plant and finished products to customers and dealers, while maintaining inventory accuracy and building strong supplier partnerships.
The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing, materials management, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment and possess strong negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing Strategy
• Develop and execute purchasing strategy for raw materials, components, and supplies to support production schedules.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery commitments with vendors; manage vendor relationships and performance.
• Monitor market conditions and lead times; identify cost-reduction and supply-risk mitigation opportunities.
• Partner with the CFO and engineering on standard costing, price variance review, and quarterly standards adjustments.
• Maintain purchasing procedures and ensure purchase orders align with production and inventory needs.
• Manage purchase orders and purchasing data within the ERP system.
Receiving
• Oversee receiving operations to ensure accurate, timely intake of materials against purchase orders.
• Ensure real-time inventory updates at receipt to support inventory accuracy and production planning.
• Resolve discrepancies between received goods, packing slips, and purchase orders; escalate vendor issues as needed.
Shipping
• Oversee shipping operations for parts and finished goods to dealers and customers.
• Ensure shipments are accurate, properly documented, and scheduled to meet customer commitments.
• Coordinate with sales and production to align shipping schedules with delivery expectations.
