Education Paraprofessional

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to support students and instructional staff in a classroom setting. The Paraprofessional will work under the supervision of a certified teacher to assist with instructional activities, classroom management, and student support, including working with students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities
• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce learning concepts
• Support students with special needs, including behavioral, academic, and social-emotional needs
• Help maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and administrative tasks
• Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-classroom settings
• Implement behavior intervention plans and support IEP goals when applicable
• Provide personal care support (if required), such as toileting or mobility assistance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must meet Arizona Department of Education Paraprofessional requirements, including one of the following:
• • Associate’s degree or higher, OR
  • Completion of at least 60 college credit hours, OR
  • Passing score on an approved paraprofessional exam (e.g., ParaPro Assessment)
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
• Experience with special education or behavioral support is a plus
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain patient, flexible, and supportive in a dynamic classroom environment

Licensure/Requirements (Arizona Specific)

• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required)
• CPR/First Aid certification (may be required or obtained upon hire)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and assist students throughout the day
• Ability to lift or assist students (if required for the role)
• Ability to respond quickly in classroom or safety situations
