Position Summary
The Security Guard helps maintain a safe, secure, and orderly environment for students, staff, visitors, and school property and regulates traffic at a high school campus. This position monitors campus activity, enforces district policies, responds to incidents, and supports positive student behavior while building professional relationships within the school community.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Patrol school buildings, parking lots, and campus grounds to ensure safety and security
- Monitor entrances, exits, hallways, and visitor access during school hours and events
- Enforce school district policies, campus rules, and safety procedures
- Assist with student supervision during class periods, after school, and at extracurricular activities as needed
- Respond promptly to disturbances, emergencies, fights, trespassing, suspicious activity, and safety concerns.
- Inspects for vandalism, theft, arson, assault, drug, and alcohol on campus
- Deescalate conflicts using professional communication and conflict-resolution techniques
- Prepare accurate written incident reports and maintain daily security logs
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, staff, and local law enforcement when necessary
- Assist with emergency drills, lockdowns, evacuations, and crisis response procedures
- Locks and secures buildings at the end of site operations and gates on campus
- Provide directions and customer service to students, parents, staff, and visitors
- Support a positive and respectful school climate
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two years or more of previous security, law enforcement, or school safety experience
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Experienced working with high school students, preferred
- Must have the mobility to walk around a large campus and parking areas
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Card
- Proof of MMR immunization required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
- Negative TB test within the last year
- Knowledge of basic safety and security procedures
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with teenagers, staff, parents, and community members
- Understanding of conflict de-escalation techniques and student behavior management
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and physically intervene when necessary within district guidelines
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 - 50 pounds
- High school campus environment with frequent interaction with students and the public
- May include evenings, weekends, and special events
- Exposure to potentially confrontational situations requiring professional judgment and composure
