Term of Employment: Full Time, 12 months with benefits

Pay Range: Starting Placement $21.00 - $26.00 DOE

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

The Human Resources Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the HR/Payroll Department within Pima JTED. Human Resources experience is required. The position is responsible for assisting with general human resources and payroll functions. The ideal candidate will have strong work ethics, strong organizational abilities, and solid communication skills. The role requires a high level of confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

  • Assisting with the onboarding of new employees; this includes accurate entry, maintenance and updating of employee records in the HR/Payroll database
  • Schedules interviews and prepares interview materials, ensures regular communication and timely updates on all new hire progress
  • Conducts preemployment reference checks as needed
  • Carries out compliance related tasks, follows district policies and procedures, rules and regulations set forth by the Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR), labor laws, etc.
  • Creates and maintains personnel records ensuring documents are up to date and compliant with district policies
  • Provides general administrative support and assists with various components of HR/Payroll functions as needed
  • Will support with the processing of payroll; to include processing and verification of employee timesheets, and payroll voucher processing
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax forms
  • Supports with the maintenance of employee payroll records
  • Provides assistance with beginning and end of year HR/payroll tasks as needed
  • Prepares and composes a variety of materials, such as reports, correspondence, forms, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Assists with the District's annual HR/Payroll audits
  • Communicates with District personnel, teachers, and business community
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Education And/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus some college coursework in Human resources, Business Administration, Accounting or related field strongly preferred
  • Three (3) to five (5) years recent hands on experience in all areas of Human Resources or similar support role, required
  • Experience in the use of School ERP Pro or other comparable school finance software
  • Understanding of labor laws, payroll regulations, HR compliance/best practices, and state/federal regulations
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, federal rules, and laws as the pertain to the position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Google Apps
  • Experience working in an educational setting preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a background check
  • MMR immunization required (unless born prior to January 1, 1957)
  • Negative TB test (within the last year)
  • Valid Arizona driver's license

  • Knowledge of office concepts, practices and procedures

  • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education
  • Ability to utilize mathematical formulas, and apply math functions
