Position Summary
Hours Per Week: Up to 19.5 hours per week
Department: Pima Community College - East Campus Makerspace
Rate of Pay: $16.77 an hour
The Library Technician: Makerspace assists in the oversight of Makerspace operations. Plans, monitors, and prepares the Makerspace equipment and materials for activities, demonstrations, and exercises. Works with individual students, classes, faculty, and staff to assist in the design and fabrication of student models for projects and prototypes in an educational environment. Provides individual and group training to students on the use of equipment in the facility. Schedules and prepares Makerspace activities. Implements safety procedures. Assists in the oversight of inventory of supplies, equipment, and other materials needed for daily operations of the Makerspace. Directly supports the Library Makerspace mission of fostering student success.
The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends.
About Temporary Employment
This position has 2 vacant positions and will establish a qualified applicant pool for part-time temporary positions. Applications will remain active for 6 months to a year and selected candidates may be contacted as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise. Placement in the pool does not guarantee employment. The applicant pool will be refreshed annually.
Temporary applicants may be hired for specific assignments or placed in an applicant pool for future opportunities, depending on enrollment levels and business needs. If selected from this pool of applicants, candidates contacted will receive details regarding the specific assignment and will have the opportunity to confirm interest and availability.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot Prusa, Creality, Longer, and other 3D printers
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot Elegoo and other resin 3D printers
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot Glowforge and other Laser Cutters/Etchers
- Assist and mentor patrons with the fabrication of hardware and assemblies from student designs
- Teach individuals and groups the use of equipment
- Provide mentoring/training/consulting for students working on projects and equipment.
- Assist in coordinating instructional projects with faculty and staff
- Maintain shop machinery, tools and equipment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures for safe usage of machinery, equipment, and tools
- Other related duties, as assigned by supervisor
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) to three (3) years of related experience in a Makerspace
- May require Hazardous Materials Certification
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
- Associates Degree/Vocational or technical training
- Experience operating and maintaining a variety of 3D printers and other equipment
- Ability to design and manufacture components/equipment based on CAD models, blueprints, sketches, oral descriptions and performance requirements
- Experience working in an academic environment with students
- Ability to work within defined project schedules, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and multi-task effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Demonstrated comfort with a variety of makerspace technologies; Laser cutters, 3D Printers, Cricut Machines, programmable objects
- Knowledge of microelectronic technology such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino or equivalent
- Knowledge of educational technologies, jam boards, smart boards, Course Management Systems
