Position Summary

The Reservoir Engineer is responsible for evaluating E&P development of an area, including, but not limited to, building a fundamental view on type curves, inventory and WTI break-evens in a given area. This is individual has is knowledgeable in geology, statistics and data management to collaborate with various teams, including engineering and business development to advice on performance and business opportunities. The position is located in Houston, Texas and reports to the SVP Engineering and Operations.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develops type curves within a given AMI.
  • Develops WTI price breakevens and remaining inventory by bench based on radius around given AMIs.
  • General knowledge of statistics so that type curve development is probabilistic based on p25, p50, p75, etc.
  • Extracts and analyses data from Enverus, RRC and NM OCD.
  • Extracts and analyses data from offset wells
  • Generates Hall Plots to identify acid job candidates.
  • Determines current and expected reservoir pressure impacting water injection rates.
  • Develops long-term well injection profiles.
  • Performs offset injector well analysis.
  • Maps out injection formations and develop a probabilistic injection capacity by injection zone map.
  • Analyses data to determine strategies for maximizing water production.
  • Collaborates closely with engineering and business development to develop robust reservoir models and recovery methods.
  • Utilizes various techniques including decline curve analysis to model injections well optimization.
  • Participates in company initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or comparable degree
  • 5 years reservoir engineer experience
  • Working knowledge of geology, statistics and data management required.
  • Working knowledge and understanding in generating Hall Plots
  • Ability to keep up and comply with applicable rules, regulations, standards, and systems of internal control
  • Strong organization, planning and time-management skills for multiple priorities.
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of organization.
  • Able to adapt in a fast-paced environment where change is a constant.
  • Proficient in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong critical and analytic skills
  • Professional, tactful, and discrete when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ethical and takes pride and ownership in their work.
  • Able to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years reservoir engineer experience
  • Experience in Delaware Basin preferred.
  • Experience with Enverus, RRC and NM OCD.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Office based environment with some travel to field sites.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Standard office environment.
