Pilot Rock Elementary School is seeking an outstanding Instructional Assistant beginning the 2025-2026 school year. The position will work four days a week, 7.25 hours per day.

The job description is as follows:
GENERAL DUTIES:
Instructional Aides provide educational supports to all students under the direction of licensed staff. Instructional Aides will also provide supervision of students in various settings and monitor for safety concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
- Meet the minimum educational requirements of the State of Oregon
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Associate’s Degree or a minimum of 72 college credits is preferred
- Experience working with children
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain
- Successfully pass fingerprint and background check
SKILLS:
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Proficient use of elementary level math
- Proficient use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
- Physical ability to perform required work
- Be able to work independently and without close supervision
- Work well with and enjoy the company of students
- Ability to meet with and deal effectively with the public
- Demonstrate an aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Have the ability to follow directions

RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
- Annually pass the required online trainings by the District’s assigned due-date
- Follow site and/or District protocol for reporting absences
- Utilize the District’s electronic systems and applications related to your job
- Meet the learning needs of individual students by assisting the teacher in planning instructional strategies appropriate for the students, subject matter, and the desire learning objectives
- Cooperate with the classroom teacher to establish parameters for student behavior and to communicate them clearly
- Motivate students to accomplish stated objectives
- Provide approved instruction to students of various sizes
- Give clear directions and check for student understanding
- Use Positive Behavior Support program in and outside the classroom setting and manage disciplinary problems fairly and in accordance with staff handbook, board policies, IEP, legal requirements; Ensuring the safety, care, security and welfare of the students
- Use time and materials effectively in relation to lesson plans and objectives
- Assist the teacher in acquiring or creating appropriate instructional materials and disinfecting supplies as needed
- Assist the teacher in organizing the physical setting and providing an environment conductive to student learning
- Gather and submit data and maintain records on each student as requested by the classroom teacher
- Provide supervision for playground, hallways, cafeteria, bus loading area as assigned
- Assist with student mobility such as lifting, transferring and transporting
- May be required to maintain current first aid/CPR certification, and implement medical protocols as needed
- Provide for identified physical needs of students such as toileting, feeding, and physical therapy
- Assist in the implementation of Health Management Plans, under the supervision of a registered nurse, such as G-Tube feeding, suction, tracheotomy care and catheterization
- Assist students with toileting and/or changing diapers, respecting all students’ need for privacy
- Maintain professional standards
