About the Role
Pillar Structural Solutions is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead evaluations, design, and technical guidance for industrial and commercial facilities throughout Florida. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality structural assessments, developing engineered solutions, and providing expert oversight on complex projects involving heavy industrial environments, coastal conditions, and aging infrastructure.
We are looking for someone with strong technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage projects from assessment through final deliverables. A Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license—or the ability to obtain one quickly—is required. Travel to site every Monday-Friday most if not all the weeks of the contract required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform structural evaluations, field inspections, and condition assessments for industrial, commercial, and municipal facilities.
- Develop engineered repair solutions, retrofit designs, and mitigation plans for structural deficiencies, corrosion, settlement, and environmental exposure.
- Produce clear, concise technical reports, drawings, and calculations.
- Review and seal engineering documents in accordance with Florida PE requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal team members to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Oversee junior engineers and provide mentorship, QA/QC, and technical support.
- Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, including Florida Building Code, ASCE/SEI 7, ACI, AISC, and related standards.
- Conduct site visits across Florida, including industrial plants, process facilities, and coastal locations.
- Manage multiple projects, budgets, and timelines concurrently.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or similar (Master’s preferred).
- Active Florida PE license or ability to obtain Florida licensure quickly.
- Minimum 4 years of structural engineering experience.
- Demonstrated background in structural evaluation, assessment, and repair design.
- Strong understanding of concrete, steel, masonry, and foundation systems.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, RAM, ETABS) and CAD tools.
- Ability to write clear, well-structured technical reports.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial or heavy-industrial facility experience.
- Experience with coastal or hurricane-resilient design.
- Familiarity with condition assessments, forensics, and root-cause investigations.
- Experience managing clients and leading multidisciplinary project teams.
