Pillar Paint & Improvements is seeking an experienced painter with drywall repair and basic handyman skills for residential and commercial projects.
This role requires someone who can complete assigned work independently, manage their tasks, and deliver professional results with minimal supervision. Applicants must already have the required skills and be ready to perform the work.
Work is project-based. Scheduling and hours depend on available jobs.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces through cleaning, sanding, scraping, caulking, and priming. Paint walls, ceilings, trim, baseboards, and doors with clean lines and consistent coverage. Complete drywall repairs, including patching holes, repairing minor cracks, taping, mudding, and sanding to a paint-ready finish. Perform basic handyman tasks such as minor trim and baseboard repairs, installing hardware, and reattaching loose components. Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures, and surrounding surfaces. Review completed work and correct drips, missed spots, uneven coverage, and other defects before calling the job finished. Keep job sites organized and clean up thoroughly. Communicate progress, material needs, and unexpected issues promptly. Complete agreed work efficiently and safely with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Proven professional painting experience. Demonstrated drywall repair and finishing skills. Experience performing basic handyman repairs. Ability to complete assigned work from preparation through final cleanup independently. Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize and correct workmanship issues. Reliable transportation to Madison/Huntsville job sites. Dependability, punctuality, and professional communication with customers and the team. Ability to use ladders, hand tools, and power tools safely. Photos of completed work and professional references.
Paint sprayer experience is a plus.
