What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Communications Manager position at Pilkington North America Inc.?
Purpose:
To be responsible for internal and external communications in North America (excluding SBU marketing communications).
Essential Functions:
- Under the Group Internal Communications Strategy plan, develops and executes internal communications programs in close co-ordination with SBU’s and Functional teams in NA.
- Proactively promotes Company culture, co-ordinates Company messages (e.g. MTP 4 Ds & 4 Fs) and supports the management of Group initiatives in NA (e.g. DEI themed days, E&C week, Safety Day and Quality Day).
- Manages internal & external communications channels in NA (e.g. Intranet, Viva Engage, Stream for videos, nsg.com website for Careers or other relevant content, any social media channels active in NA)
- Actively promotes NA NSG initiatives in social media in alignment NSG Corporate initiatives.
- Plays a key role in Group Employee Engagement activities in NA, such as Employer Brand
- Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and ensures their communication needs are met.
- Writes and distributes local internal bulletins, press releases, manages press enquiries and engages proactively with media engagement at the Corporate level in North America.
- Distributes key global internal bulletins within NA, such as senior management appointments and Group quarterly financial results.
- Facilitates Mexican Spanish translations of relevant Group or North America communications.
- Supports Group employee activities, such as CEO town hall meetings in NA (organization & facilitation).
- Acts as an active, contributing editorial team member of MADO three times a year; content contribution from NA.
- Supports the Head of Internal Communications with ad hoc global projects
- Supports and coordinates with HR the “Employer Branding” initiative in NA.
- Utilizes new technology, techniques and best practices.
- Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Scope/Dimensions:
This role interacts with all levels of the NSG Group’s organization in NA from regional heads to shop floor team members. It also links to external stakeholders such as media.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of experience and education.
- Excellent English language skills, ability to write engaging stories and press releases in a variety of media (e.g. social media posts, press releases, people stories on the Intranet).
- Adept in preparing talking points for leaders in preparation for interviews
- Very good digital skills and interest in developing them further when new technology is being introduced.
- Social media proficiency
Qualifications Desired:
- 3 years’ experience in a communications role.
- Experience in the glass industry
Other Requirements:
- Driver’s license, must be willing to drive to sites, overnight travel may be required at times.
- Flexibility with working hours in occasional situations (e.g. to attend early morning global meetings, or to work late due to Mexicali comms activities).
- Passport to enable international travel would be desired but not compulsory.
Salary starting from: $78,552
