With an on-site urban farm, PTCH provides access to locally grown produce, encouraging physical and mental activity. The Pilgrim Terrace Community Garden features 55 garden plots, including six wheelchair-accessible plots, offering residents and locals an affordable opportunity to grow fresh and organic produce. Our mission is to combat hunger and promote vibrant, fulfilling lives in our community.

Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role for a Driver/Farmhand at Pilgrim Terrace, located in Santa Barbara, CA. Responsibilities include driving a van to to deliver produce and drive residents to appointments, assisting with farm maintenance, and supporting daily operations at the garden. The role also involves interacting with community members, ensuring high standards of customer service, and maintaining clear communication with staff and volunteers. General labor tasks, equipment handling, and ensuring safety compliance are also required. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, is compassionate, patient, adaptable, and always comes to work with a positive attitude.

Duties

• Drive residents to and from appointments or to pick up prescriptions
• Drive the bus/van for group outings and grocery shopping
• Deliver weekly produce orders to client/ restaurant accounts in Santa Barbara
• Assist as a farmhand in the soil garden, microgreens greenhouse, or aeroponic tower farm as needed.

Skills

• Have a valid C license and professional experience as a driver
• Clean driving record required
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with community members
• Attention to detail
