Position Summary

We are seeking thoughtful, experienced, and skilled educators who are compelled by our Purpose and who are committed to excellence in mathematics and computer science education. At Pilgrim, mathematics and computer science teaching and learning is inquiry and problem based, pushes students to think critically and develop conceptual understanding and procedural fluency, and helps students embrace problem solving as a creative process.

We currently have a position open in teaching mathematics and computer science at primarily the High School level, with the possibility of a Middle School coding elective. The position offers an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative team of educators with a focus on innovation in teaching and learning. Candidates should have a strong mathematics and teaching background, and be committed to working with Secondary school aged students.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Teach 4-5 classes in mathematics and computer science, including planning inquiry-based units and lessons, collecting evidence of student learning, and providing ongoing feedback to improve student learning.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the STEM department in curriculum development, analyzing student work, and implementation of mastery-based learning.
  • Prepare timely and detailed parent communication, both informally through email and phone communication, and formally through reports and conferences.
  • Provide on-campus supervision 1-2 times per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in mathematics, computer science, engineering, science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of Middle School and/or High School teacher experience
  • Highly collaborative spirit and willingness to be part of a team-oriented approach to learning across the school.
  • Knowledge and expertise with modern pedagogy and effective mathematics teaching practices.

Preferred Background

  • Single subject teaching credential in mathematics is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced degree in mathematics, computer science, and/or mathematics education is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in mastery-based or standards-based grading and assessment methodologies is highly desired. We are a fully mastery-based school, so if the candidate does not have experience, they must be willing to learn.
  • Experience and interest in related STEM areas, including robotics, engineering, or science is helpful not required.

Salary Range and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $72,000-$100,000 depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a full and robust range of medical, dental and vision benefits, participation in a 403b retirement plan, which we will match up to 4%, and life insurance. Timeline and Start Date
