In this role, you will prepare daily meals, therapeutic diets, and special menu items while helping maintain a safe, efficient, and sanitary kitchen environment. You may also provide direction to team members in the Food Service Supervisor's absence.

What You’ll Do
- Prepare meals for residents, including therapeutic diets, mechanically altered diets, special menu requests, and substitutions.
- Ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, dietary guidelines, and quality standards.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards by following HACCP principles.
- Monitor and document food temperatures, refrigeration/freezer temperatures, and sanitizer logs.
- Communicate meal counts, substitutions, and resident dietary needs with food service aides.
- Receive food deliveries, rotate stock, store inventory properly, and communicate supply needs.
- Ensure ingredients and supplies are available at least two days in advance of meal service.
- Assist with recipe updates and menu development.
- Monitor resident meal satisfaction and dining room meal acceptance.
- Provide direction to team members in the absence of the Food Service Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
- Support departmental meetings, committees, and special events as assigned.
What You Bring
- Minimum 2 years of quantity cooking experience required
- Experience preparing therapeutic or special diets preferred
- Healthcare, senior living, or institutional food service experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read recipes, follow written/verbal instructions, and perform recipe-related calculations
- Leadership skills and/or experience directing team members preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and respect for confidentiality
