Payroll and Benefits Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
Process Payroll Runs: Calculate and distribute salaries, overtime, commissions, bonuses, and other pay accurately and on schedule
Manage Deductions: Apply correct deductions for taxes, pensions, benefits, direct deposits, garnishments and execute payments to the payroll vendors
Maintain Payroll Records: Keep updated pay history, leave balances, tax documents, benefits, and employment changes in employee electronic and physical files.
Benefits Coordination: Process benefits enrollments and terminations according to eligibility and timing. Advise employees on current benefits offerings, FMLA, workers’ compensation policies.
Ensure Compliance: Follow all payroll regulations to avoid penalties and maintain legal integrity
Resolve Employee Queries: Address questions about paystubs, tax withholdings, leave payouts, PTO balances and other payroll issues
Support Audits and Verifications: Provide documentation and statistics for audits verifications, DOL
Coordinate with HR and Finance: Update payroll for new hires, terminations, promotions, benefits contributions and volunteer deductions
Manage Payroll Systems: Operate, update, and troubleshoot payroll software while protecting employee data
Assist in Compensation Planning: Provide payroll data for benchmarking, salary reviews, and workforce cost analysis
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, or 3-5 years of relevant experience. Strong numerical and administrative skills, ability to pay attention to detail and perform tasks accurately, problem-solving skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Effective communication skills to interact with Elected Officials, Department Heads, employees, and vendors. Handle inquiries and confidential information with discretion. Knowledge of ADP payroll software and system. Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and pensions.
Reports to: Human Resources Director
Pay: $60,000.00 per year
