Volunteer Services is currently seeking adult and student volunteers. We currently have 3 categories of volunteers High School, at least 16 years old and a Sophomore, College and Adults, adults, primarily not in school. When applying, please indicate which category you are.

The Music Enrichment program provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals who enjoy sharing their musical talents through instrumental music, by creating a calming atmosphere for hospital visitors, patients and staff. Volunteers are welcome to play our grand piano in the lobby or take their own smaller instruments, wind or string, up to patient rooms and nursing floors.
Description
The Music Enrichment program provides instrumental music to patients during room to room visits as part of addressing the whole health of the individual. The goal of this program is to lift the emotional spirits of the patient, improve morale, increase energy levels, and provide stress relief through music as a diversion technique. By volunteers providing music at the bedside of patients, it also has the potential to ease the patient's feelings of loneliness.
Shifts can be flexible from 2-4 hours per day. Auditions will be required before placement.
Qualification
Good customer service skills
Good verbal communication and listening skills
Musical instrument abilities; piano, wind, strings
Caring, compassionate and empathetic
Attentiveness to needs of the patient
Aware of and senstitive to the hospital environment
Mature, positive service-oriented individual
Ability to walk through facility carrying an instrument
