What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deli / Bakery Manager position at Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store?
We are a locally owned and operated independent grocer, and we need someone who is ready to take the Deli / Bakery to the next level. We would like to hire someone who can put their own special touch on it. We care about the customer and want to create a shopping experience so good, that our customers can't imagine shopping anywhere else.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE.
- Planning, organizing, and directing of the daily activities of the Deli/ bakery Department.
- Ensure the quality and freshness of all products and services the bakery / deli provides.
- Understand how to calculate costs and margins for everything produced in the Deli/Bakery.
- Possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others all fundamentals of production.
- Maintain both interdepartmental and inter-store transfers.
- Plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Assist management with cross merchandising ideas with other departments.
- Ensure the deli / bakery is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance.
- Ensure company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained.
- Ordering and maintain inventory.
- Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.
- Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a passion for your work.
- Continually strive to be product minded, customer minded, personnel minded
- Must be able to work well with others, and motivate your deli team to accomplish the goals set forth by the company.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in a safe comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or GED required and experience in a bakery or deli preferred.
